The play focuses on the relationship between two thespians: Robert, an older, experienced performer (Stewart); and John (Knight), a relative newcomer. While Robert's guidance is welcomed by John at first, as the play progresses Robert falters as an actor and mentor, and John emerges as a mature actor.

As previously reported, the creative team will include Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Kenneth Posner (lighting design), and Laura Bauer (costume design).
