Oliver Platt to Join X-Men: First Class Film

Stage and screen star Oliver Platt has joined the cast of the forthcoming X-Men: First Class film, according to a report on Deadline.com.

The movie, to be directed by Matthew Vaughn, focuses on the superhero team in a younger incarnation than has been seen in previous films.

As previously reported, the film will star James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, along with stage veterans Kevin Bacon, Alice Eve, and Nicholas Hoult.

Platt’s Broadway credits include Guys and Dolls and Shining City, for which he received a Tony Award nomination.

His many film credits include Frost/Nixon and Kinsey. He received four Emmy Award nominations for his work on Showtime’s Huff, and his television credits also include The West Wing, Nip/Tuck, The Bronx Is Burning and Showtime’s new series The Big C with Laura Linney.
