Irish Rep Extends Frank McCourt’s The Irish…and How They Got That Way Through September 26

Irish Repertory Theatre has extended its production of Frank McCourt’s The Irish…and How They Got That Way, which will now close on September 26. Charlotte Moore has directed the production, which features musical direction by Kevin B. Winebold and choreography by Barry McNabb.

The piece is an irreverent but affectionate history of the Irish in America that uses songs of Ireland, such as “Danny Boy,” “The Rose of Tralee, and “Harrigan,” along with the works of George M. Cohan including “Give My Regards to Broadway,” “You’re A Grand Ole Flag,” and “I’m A Yankee Doodle Dandy” and music from modern-day Irish rockers such as U2.

The cast features Ciaran Sheehan and Terry Donnelly, who are recreating their roles from the original production of the show, along with Kerry Conte, Patrick Shields, Gary Troy, and Kevin B. Winebold.

The creative team includes Shawn Lewis (scenic design), David Toser (costume design), Michael Gottlieb (lighting design), and Jan Hartley (projection design).
