Hong Jim-min, Oh Man-seok to Star in The Toxic Avenger in Korea

Oh Man-seok will play Melvin Ferd the Third as well as his alter ego Toxie and Hong Jim-min will play the corrupt Mayor of Tromaville, and Melvin’s mother, Ma Ferd in the Korean production of The Toxic Avenger, to begin performances August 14 at the KT&G Sangsang Art Hall in southern Seoul.

Based on the 1985 classic cult film from Lloyd Kaufman, The Toxic Avenger features music and lyrics by David Bryan, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro.

Oh Man-seok is perhaps best known for his performance in Shownote’s production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. His directing credits include Happy Life and Harmonium in My Heart. Hong Jim-min received a Best Actress at the Korea Musical Awards for her work in Dreamgirls and has recently been seen in Menopause the Musical. Among her television credits are On Air and the forthcoming I Am Legend.
