Emmy Award Winner Dorothy Lyman to Direct NYC Production of Sight Unseen

Emmy Award winner Dorothy Lyman will direct InProximity Theatre Company’s production of Donald Margulies’ drama Sight Unseen, to run September 23 – October 10 at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios.

The play, which originated Off-Broadway and was later produced on Broadway by Manhatttan Theatre Club, focuses on an American artist, who is struggling with both his present and his past.

The company will feature Laurie Schaefer, Jonathan Todd Ross, Brent Vimtrup, and Bryn Boice. The creative team will include James J. Fenton (scenic design), Lisa Soverino (lighting design), Court Watson (costumes design), and Jeremy Lee (sound design).

Lyman received two Emmy Award for her portrayal of Opal Gardner on ABC’s All My Children and starred as Naomi on the hit sitcom Mama’s Family. As a director, Lyman staged the original off-Broadway production of John Ford Noonan’s A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talkin’. Her film and television credits as a director include The Nanny, Northern Kingdom and Split Ends.
