Talking Band will present the world premiere of their show PANIC! EUPHORIA! BLACKOUT at HERE Arts Center, October 7-24. The play is written and directed by one of the founders of Talking Band, Ellen Maddow, and directed by Katie Pearl.

The cast will include Curtis Rand, Mary Schultz, and Paul Zimet.

The play, which is informed by today’s financial crises, presents three traders sitting at a table swapping and bartering objects with encoded values and attempting to stay ahead of the ever-changing numbers that broadcast swings in the market. It explores their relationship to each other and the profound impact of lending, trade, debt, and finance in our culture.

The interdisciplinary Talking Band was founded in 1974 by three former members of Joseph Chaikin’s seminal Open Theater. Since then, they have been collaborating with designers, musicians and poets to create more than 40 new theater pieces underscored by musical expression and visual imagery.
