The series will kick off on September 13 with Gammer Gurton's Needle, by Mr. S. Mr. of Art, starring Roberta Maxwell and Mary Testa. Everett Quinton will direct. René Auberjonois and Michael Urie will star in a September 20 benefit reading of Our Betters, by W. Somerset Maugham, directed by Stuart Howard. A VIP Cocktail party with the actors, special guests, and entertainment will follow the reading.
Next up will be Love Lies A-Bleeding, by Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher, to be presented on October 25. Heather Lind will star in this Jacobean romance, with direction by Craig Baldwin. On November 15, Daniel Davis and Matthew Rauch will be featured in Friedrich Schiller's Don Carlos, in a new version by Mike Poulton. Joseph Hardy will direct.
F. Murray Abraham and Jan Maxwell headline Howard Barker's Gertrude - The Cry on November 29, directed by Richard Romagnoli. The reading is presented in collaboration with The Barker Project. Thomas Kyd's The Spanish Tragedy will be presented Tuesday, December 28, at 7:30pm. Matthew Rauch will direct the reading, featuring Maria Dizzia and Michael Stuhlbarg.
Jessica Hecht and Jeremy Shamos will star in Nikolai Erdman's The Suicide on January 10. Kay Matschullat will direct the play, which was adapted by Richard Nelson. Leigh Silverman will direct Thomas Middleton's The Witch on February 7, with casting to be announced.
The series will continue with Caryl Churchill's Vinegar Tom (February 14), directed by Wendy McClellan; Euripides's Troy Women (March 28) in a new version by Karen Hartman; and August Strindberg's Creditors (April 25), in a new version written and directed by Doug Wright, and featuring Bill Camp and Kathryn Meisle.
Lillian Hellman's adaptation of Montserrat, from the French play by Emmanuel Robles, will be presented May 9, followed by John O'Keefe's Wild Oats (May 23), directed by Patrick Page and featuring Reg Rogers.
The series will conclude on June 13 with a New Play Festival of world premiere short plays by Elizabeth Egloff and more to be announced.
