Award-winning playwright Wallace Shawn will release his first collection of nonfiction, Essays by Wallace Shawn, published by Haymarket Books, and available beginning September 1.

In the volume, Shawn discusses such topics as writing about sex, the relationship between art and politics, and the nature of Manhattan’s cultural elite. He also explores and reveals the genesis of his plays, which include Aunt Dan and Lemon, The Fever and The Designated Mourner.

Concurrent with the release of Essays, Shawn will be appearing at author events across the country, including a September 1 appearance at Barnes and Noble-Lincoln Triangle in New York and an October 14 engagement at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
