Oscar Winner Budd Schulberg Dies at 95

Budd Schulberg, who won an Oscar for Best Screenplay for the 1954 film On the Waterfront, which later became a short-lived Broadway play in 1995, has died at age 95, according to published reports.

Schulberg was also a renowned novelist and his adaptation of his book The Disenchanted received a Tony Award nomination for Best Play. In addition, he wrote the novel What Makes Sammy Run, as well as the book for the 1964 Broadway musical version, and the screenplay for the 1957 film A Face in the Crowd, among other notable works.

Schulberg was married three times, and is survived by his wife Betsy and five children.
