The New York City Ballet has announced its 2009-10 season, according to a report in The New York Times.

The season will begin with a gala Opening Night Benefit on November 24. This evening, the first time the NYCB will be performing in the newly renovated David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, will feature a new ballet from Peter Martins set to a new John Adams score.

During the NYCB’s eight-week winter season, which begins January 5, a world premiere by the Russian choreographer Alexey Miroshnichenko will be offered, as well as 11 ballets by George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins. There will also be five full-length ballets, including Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake.

The spring season, which starts May 4, will focus on new choreography, with world premieres from Martins, Melissa Barak, Mauro Bigonzetti, Wayne McGregor, Benjamin Millepied, Alexei Ratmansky, and Christopher Wheeldon. Accompanying the new ballets will be four commissioned scores by Bruno Moretti, Thierry Escaich, Jay Greenberg, and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
