Tony Award winners John Lithgow and Jennifer Ehle will play the title roles in Douglas Carter Beane’s Mr. & Mrs. Fitch, to play the Second Stage Theatre, beginning on January 26. The show, which will open officially on February 22, will be directed by Scott Ellis.

The play concerns a pair of gossip columnists who must find news when the social circuit no longer provides any. Beane is the author of The Little Dog Laughed, As Bees in Honey Drown, and The Country Club, as well as the book for Xanadu.

The creative team includes Allen Moyer (sets), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), and Kenneth Posner (lighting). Ellis directed The Little Dog Laughed, and has received Tony Award nominations for Twelve Angry Men, 1776, Steel Pier, and She Loves Me.

Lithgow won Tony Awards for his work in Sweet Smell of Success and The Changing Room and most recently appeared on Broadway in All My Sons. Ehle won Tonys for The Coast of Utopia and The Real Thing.
