John Gregor and David L. Williams’ The Bully to Open Vital Theatre’s Family Season

A return engagement of John Gregor and David L. Williams’ musical The Bully will open the Vital Theatre Company’s 2009-2010 Vital Family Season. Directed and choreographed by Troy Miller, the production will run September 12 – October 12.

The show, with music and lyrics from Gregor and a book by Williams, recounts how a class nerd and class bully become unlikely friends. The cast includes Josh Beyers, Patti DeMatteo, Greg Kalafatas, Janelle Mims, Frank Paiva, Jay Paranada, Stephen Stocking, Abigail Taylor, and Jessie Tendler.

The Vital’s season will continue with Matthew Takes Mannnahatta (October 17 – November 29). Based on the book Matthew’s Secret Door, the musical features a book by Aurin Squire, lyrics by Sammy Buck, music by Daniel S. Acquisto and direction by Carlos Armesto. Next will be The Klezmer Nutcracker (December 5 – January 3), based on Ellen Kusher’s book The Golden Dreydl and featuring a book by Kusher and music by Shirim Klezmer. It will be followed by Uncle Pirate (January 16 – February 28), based on Douglas Rees’ book of the same name, and featuring a book by Ben H. Winters, with music and lyrics by Drew Fornarola.
