Jerry Springer to Play Broadway’s Chicago

Jerry Springer, who recently completed a run in the West End production of Chicago, has been confirmed for a Broadway engagement, August 18-September 6, with the exception of Mondays August 24 and 31. As in London, he will play the role of Billy Flynn.

The musical has a score by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb, including such hits as “All That Jazz,” “Mister Cellophane,” “Razzle Dazzle,” and “Nowadays.” The production is directed by Walter Bobbie with choreography by Ann Reinking. The musical won six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.

Springer is best known worldwide for The Jerry Springer Show, and he has also been the mayor of Cincinnati, a political pundit, a lawyer, an award-winning newscaster, and a country recording artist. As previously announced, Springer will also appear in the role in the national tour of Chicago for engagements at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta (September 8-13) and the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia (September 15-20). The length of Springer’s run in the tour has not been announced.
