Geoffrey Rush Honored by Australian Film Institute

Geoffrey Rush, who won a Tony Award last season for his performance in Eugene Ionesco's Exit the King, has been honored with the Australian Film Insitute's Raymond Longford Award, according to a report in Variety. Rush received the award on July 31 at Melbourne's Convention Center.

This peer-judged trophy is named after a famous Australian film pioneer and it recognizes contributions to the country's movie business. King represented Rush's Broadway debut. He is best known for his film work including his Academy Award winning performance in Shine.
