David Rockwell to Be Honored at Pratt’s Legends 2009 Gala

Tony Award and Emmy Award nominee David Rockwell will be honored alongside performer Patti Smith and fashion designer at Pratt Institute’s Legends 2009 Gala at 6pm on Thursday, October 29 at 7 World Trade Center.

Rockwell, head of the New York-based architecture and design firm Rockwell Group, is a 2009 Emmy nominee for his work on this year’s Academy Awards; he also designed the Kodak Theatre, where the Oscars are now held.

In addition, he designed the sets for the Broadway productions of Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hairspray, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, All Shook Up, and Legally Blonde, as well as those shows’ national tours and international productions, and the upcoming Broadway musical Catch Me If You Can, which recently bowed in Seattle. He will also be a co-producer and designer of the new Broadway musical Houdini.
