David Cromer will direct the American premiere of Andrew Bovell’s When the Rain Stops Falling at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, beginning February 11 with an opening on March 8.

The play is an epic drama, set in England and Australia, that traces a family’s history spanning 80 years. Cast and designers will be announced at a later date.

Bovell is best known for his award winning film Lantana and for co-writing the original screenplay for Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ballroom. His play, Speaking In Tongues, was seen at Hampstead Theatre in 2000 and toured internationally. Cromer is currently directing and playing the Stage Manager Off-Broadway in Our Town, and will make his Broadway directing debut this season with Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound.
