Barbra Streisand to Perform at Village Vanguard in NYC, Free Tickets Available

Barbra Streisand will celebrate the release of her new album of jazz standards and classics Love Is The Answer, with a rare New York City performance at the Village Vanguard on Saturday, September 26.

On the CD, to be released September 29, Streisand works with Grammy Award-winning jazz artist Diana Krall and her quartet, along with the Grammy-winning arranger Johnny Mandel, who worked with Streisand on her 1993 Back to Broadway CD. At the Village Vanguard performance, Streisand will sing a selection of these songs; she last performed at the venue in 1961 as the opening act for Miles Davis. Free tickets will be made available only to fans who either pre-order the new CD or register an entry blank free of charge.

As previously announced, Streisand will auction more than 400 personal items to benefit her charity, The Streisand Foundation, on October 17 and 18 at the Beverly Hitlon in Los Angeles, according to The Associated Press. She will be selling costumes from her films, including a dress from Funny Lady and a robe fom The Way We Were, as well as items from her many homes. Highlights from the sale will be exhibited aboard the Queen Mary 2 during its trans-Atlantic cruise this month and then in Ireland and New York before landing in Beverly Hills.

Streisand appeared on Broadway in I Can Get It For You Wholesale and Funny Girl. Her films include Funny Girl, Funny Lady, Yentl, and Nuts. She has won the Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy Awards, a special Tony Award, and is a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honor.
