Tony Award Winner Luther Davis Dies at 91

Luther Davis, who won the Tony Award for co-authoring the book to the 1954 musical Kismet, died on July 29 at age 91, according to The New York Times.

Davis also received Tony nominations for producing the 1978 musical Timbuktu, which he also wrote, and for the book of the 1989 musical Grand Hotel. Much earlier in his career, he also wrote the Broadway play Kiss Them For Me and contributed music to the revue New Faces of 1952. He also wrote numerous movies and television series, most notably The Hucksters.

He is survived by his wife, the actress Jennifer Bassey, and two daughters.
