Pig Iron to Present NYC Premiere of Chekhov Lizardbrain

The Obie Award-winning Pig Iron Theatre Company will present the New York premiere of Chekhov Lizardbrain, a surreal comedy loosely inspired by Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters and the “Three Brain” theory of Paul D. MacLean, at the Ohio Theatre, starting on October 2. The production is directed by Dan Rothenberg with text by Robert Quillen Camp and the ensemble.

In twists and turns that take us from neuroscience to a domestic squabble to the circus ring, the work captures a mind as it zigzags back and forth over troubling memories, attempting to mold them into neat Russian dramas. The company’s other work include Hell Meets Henry Halfway, Anonydne, and Shut Eye. Their newest work, Sweet By-and-By will be seen in Philadelphia, August 19-September 13.

The ensemble features Dito van Reigersberg, Gabriel Quinn Bauriedel, Geoff Sobelle, and James Sugg. The creative team includes set designer Anna Kiraly, costume designer Olivera Gajic, sound designer Nick Kourtides, and lighting designer James Clotfelter.
