Full casting has been announced for the New York premiere of writer/director Roger Bean’s The Marvelous Wonderettes, which will play an open-ended run at Off-Broadway’s Westside Theatre, with performances beginning August 26, and an opening on September 14.

Described as a “cotton-candy colored non-stop pop musical,” the show features the iconic sounds of the fifties and beyond in a journey back to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where the Wonderettes — Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy — are four young girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. Songs include “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” “It’s My Party” and “It’s In His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song).” The show earned an Ovation Award (Best Musical in an Intimate Theatre) and LADCC Awards for Best Choreography and Ensemble in its run at Los Angeles’ El Portal Theatre.

The cast will feature Farah Alvin (Missy), Beth Malone (Betty Jean), Bets Malone (Suzy), and Victoria Matlock (Cindy Lou).

The creative team will include Mike Carnahan (set), Bobby Pearce (costumes/wigs), Jeremy Pivnick (lighting), Cricket S. Myers (sound), Brian William Baker (musical direction), and Janet Miller (choreography).

Bean’s previous work includes Route 66, Honky Tonk Laundry, Why Do Fools Fall In Love? and The Andrews Brothers.
