Dale, Kushner, Rose, Streep, et al. to Read at 92nd Street Y

The 92nd Street Y has announced programming for the Unterberg Poetry Center’s 70th season.

The season will begin at 8pm on Monday, September 15 with A Celebration of Maurice Sendak, to be led by playwright Tony Kushner and featuring such special guests as Meryl Streep, James Gandolfini, Anika Noni Rose, Linda Emond, and Catherine Keener.

Other programs of note include composer John Adams, whose Doctor Atomic will be presented this fall by the Metropolitan Opera (8pm, October 6), actor Jim Dale reading from his favorite books (1pm, November 1), Theatre for a New Audience artistic director Jeffrey Horowitz discussing Dostoyevsky (8pm, November 10), members of English director Katie Mitchell’s acclaimed production of The Waves discussing Virginia Woolf (8pm, November 17), and Horowitz and actor Christian Camargo discussing Hamlet (8pm, January 14).

Other participants include authors Isabel Allende, John Ashberry, Ann Beattie, Judy Blume, Junot Diaz, E.L. Doctorow, David Leavitt, Toni Morrison, Walter Mosley, Cynthia Ozick, and Richard Wilbur.
