Bullock, Cavenaugh, Creel, Gets, Laws, Mason, et al. to Participte in NYMF Events

Additional casting has been announced for select shows and associated events in the 2008 New York Musical Theatre Festival. The fifth annual festival, which runs September 15-October 5, will include 24 full productions, a dance series, a developmental series, concerts and special events.

Jim J. Bullock will star in The Fancy Boys Follies, with book & lyrics by David Pevsner, and music by Michael Skloff, Jamie Forsyth, Michael Orland, Mark Hummel, Chris Lavely & David Pevsner, described as a “low-rent Ziegfeld Follies” in which five sexy men sing, dance and strip. Heather Laws and Paul Anthony Stewart will head the cast of She Can’t Believe She Said That!, with book, music, and lyrics by Matt Prager, recounting the true story of talk show hostess Kathie Lee Gifford over 30 years. Danielle Lee Greaves and John Jeffrey Martin are featured in the cast of The Bubble: A Musical Dot-Comedy, with book by Karen J. Paull, music by David Pack, and lyrics by Karen J. Paull and David Pack, set in Silicon Valley, circa 1991.

Matt Cavenaugh, Gavin Creel, Malcolm Gets, Adam Jacobs, and Jose Llana will appear in Prospect Theatre Company’s 10th anniversary concert at 37 Arts, September 21 at 9 pm. Creel will also appear — along with Steven Booth, Mary Faber, Patina Renea Miller, and Aaron Tveit — in Pasek and Paul in Concert, featuring the music of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, at the Zipper, September 22 at 10 pm.

Becca Ayers, Thomas Cannizzaro, Jared Gertner, J. Elaine Marcos, and Joe Aaron Reid will star in the NYMF Developmental Series production of Lines, featuring book, music, and lyrics by Timothy Huang.

NYMF’s Educational Series will include three events at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle: Comedy Tonight: Composers and Lyricists Who Write for Laughs, moderated by TheaterMania contributor Peter Filichia and featuring Chad Beguelin & Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer), Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde), Hal Goldberg (Nerds), Mark Hollmann (Urinetown), Zina Goldrich (Junie B. Jones), Bobby Lopez (Avenue Q), and Matt Prager (She Can’t Believe She Said That), September 18 at 5:30 pm; [title of show] creators and stars Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen talking about the musical’s journey from NYMF to Broadway, September 25 at 5:30 pm; and A Lot of Livin’ to Do: Up Close and Personal with Charles Strouse, moderated by Michael A. Kerker with musical guests Craig Carnelia and Karen Mason, October 2 at 5:30 pm.
