Bahr, Myers, Zweibel, et al. to Participate in 92nd Street Y’s Fall Theater Programming

The 92nd Street Y has announced a range of theater-related events, to be presented in the fall.

Emmy Award winning writer Alan Zweibel will join comedian Susie Essman for a conversation entitled Funny People (September 15); actor Bruce Myers, who stars in Peter Brook’s production of The Grand Inquisitor will be part of An Evening of Dostoevsky: The Grand Inquisitor (November 10), along with Theatre for a New Audience’s artistic director Jeffrey Horowitz and others; literary scholar Edward Mendelsohn will be joined by actors and collaborators from Lincoln Center’s American premiere of the stage adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s novel The Waves (November 17); and Iris Bahr will present her critically acclaimed one-woman show, Dai! (“Enough”) (December 7).

In addition, 92nd Street Y will present a two-part series entitled Jewish Giants of the American Songbook: Music as Melting Pot Mosaic. The first part will spotlight Jerome Kern (November 22), with Joelle Wallach examining the contributions of this songwriter whose more than 700 compositions include such standards as “Ol’ Man River,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” and “The Way You Look Tonight.” The second part will look at Rodgers and Hart (December 13), with Wallach examining the team responsible for such classic songs as “My Funny Valentine,” “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Isn’t It Romantic?” and “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered.”
