Three-time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn’s new solo CD, Serious Playground – The Songs of Laura Nyro, will be released on Ghostlight Records on October 2. The CD features fresh arrangements of Nyro’s best-known songs, including “Stoney End,” “Sweet Blindness” and “Save The Country,” along with new interpretations of rarely-recorded songs like “To A Child,” “Mother’s Spiritual” and “Been On A Train.”

In addition, Kuhn will perform selections from the CD at Joe’s Pub on October 1, 8, 15, and 22, and at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center on October 26. Kuhn first performed Nyro’s songs in Eli’s Comin’, an Obie Award-winning revue of the late singer-songwriter’s work, at the Vineyard Theater. She first presented Serious Playground earlier this year as part of Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series.

Kuhn’s many Broadway credits include She Loves Me, Chess, Two Shakespearean Actors, Les Miserables, and Rags. Her regional and international credits include Sunset Boulevard, The Highest Yellow, Passion, The Glass Menagerie, and Metropolis. She was featured as the singing voice of Disney’s Pocahontas and co-stars in the upcoming film Day on Fire, for which she also performs on the soundtrack.
