John Mahoney to Appear in I Sing America

Tony Award winner John Mahoney will star in I Sing America, a free performance of poetry and song presented by Steppenwolf Traffic, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and Chicago Public Radio, to be held at Chicago’s Millennium Park at 6:30 pm on Monday, September 6. The show will be recorded for future broadcast on WBEZ Radio.

The evening, to be directed by Jessica Thebus, will feature works by Gwendolyn Brooks, Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Patricia Smith, and Allen Ginsburg. Also appearing in the show will be Martha Lavey, Yasen Peyankov, Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Daniel J. Bryant, Penelope Walker, Josephine Lee, and the Chicago Children’s Choir.

The event is part of Millennium Park’s Blockbuster Week, which will also feature free performances by the Joffrey Ballet, Lyric Opera, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
