Tony Award winner Joe Mantegna will join the hit CBS drama Criminal Minds sometime this fall, according to TVGuide.com. The show lost its leading man, Tony winner Mandy Patinkin, earlier this summer when Patinkin asked to be released from his contract, due to “creative differences.”

Mantegna received his Tony for his performance as Ricky Roma in David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross and also appeared on Broadway in Working and Speed-the-Plow. He has previously starred on the television series Joan of Arcadia and First Monday, and received his third Emmy Award nomination this year for the USA miniseries The Starter Wife. Mantegna also voices the character of Fat Tony on The Simpsons and can currently be heard on the big screen in The Simpsons Movie.

Criminal Minds debuted in 2005. The show also stars Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, and A.J. Cook.
