Jacoby, Ralston, Zimbalist, et al. Set for SCR’s A Little Night Music

Mark Jacoby will play Frederic, Teri Ralston will play Madame Armfeldt, and Stephanie Zimbalist will play Desiree in the South Coast Repertory’s production of the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical A Little Night Music, September 7-October 7. The production, which will officially open on September 14, will be directed by Stefan Novinski.

Based on Ingmar Bergman’s film Smiles of a Summer Night, the musical focuses on Desiree Armfeldt, a famous actress who decides to try to win back her former lover, Frederic, who has recently married a much younger woman. The score includes “Send in the Clowns,” and “The Miller’s Son.”

The cast will also feature Christopher Carothers (Mr. Lindquist), Misty Cotton (Petra), Karen Culliver (Mrs. Nordstrom), Joe Farrell (Henrik Egerman), Katie Horwitch (Fredrika Armfeldt), Damon Kirsch (Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm), Ann Marie Lee (Mrs. Anderssen), Tracy Lore (Mrs. Segstrom), Branden McDonald (Frid), Kevin McMahon (Mr. Erlanson), Amanda Naughton (Countess Charlotte Malcolm), and Carolann Sanita (Anne Egerman).

The creative team includes Ken Roht (choreography), Sibyl Wickersheimer (set design), Shigeru Yaji (costume design), Christopher Akerlind (lighting design), and Drew Dalzell (sound design).

Jacoby has appeared on Broadway in Sweeney Todd, Show Boat, and Ragtime. Ralston was a member of the original Broadway cast of Company and most recently appeared in Hats! Zimbalist’s stage credits include My One and Only, Festival, and Hamlet. She is best known for her role on the TV series Remington Steele.
