Full Cast, Creative Team Set for Vortex’s Kiss of the Spider Woman

Full cast and creative team have been announced for the Vortex Theater Company’s “radical” new version of the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, written by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Terrence McNally, to run at the Sanford Meisner Theatere, September 10-October 6. The production will be directed by Drama Desk Award nominee Gisela Cardenas, with musical direction by Milica Paranosic.

Based on Manuel Puig’s novel of the same name, Spider Wowman focuses on Molina, a homosexual inmate in a Latin American country who spends his days fantasizing about the seductive screen goddess Aurora. Eventually, he is forced to share his cell with Valentin, a macho Marxist revolutionary, and the pair develops a strong if dangerous bond.

The cast includes Liza Baron, Michael Beatty, Gabe Belyeu, Damian deShaun Smith, Max Ferguson, Marc Ginsburg, Harold Lewter, David Macaluso, Kim Shipley, Nikki Van Cassele, Rolfe Winkler, and Michael Yeshion. The creative team includes Jian Jung (sets), Oana Botez-Ban (costumes), Lucrecia Briceno (lighting), and Marcelo Anez (sound).
