Susan Clark, Bonnie Franklin, Robin Gammell, Amanda McBroom, Stephanie McNamara, and Granville Van Dusen will star in the Rubicon Theatre Company’s production of Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance, to run September 20-October 14. The production, which will be directed by James O’Neil, opens officially on September 22.

This Pulitzer Prize-winning drama takes place over the course of a weekend at the beautiful home of Agnes (Clark) and Tobias (Van Dusen), a Connecticut couple on the cusp of old age. Plenty of domestic drama is provided by their oft-divorced daughter Julia (McNamara), who has returned home in the wake of a fourth failed marriage, and Agnes’ acerbic, alcoholic sister Claire (Franklin). Their heavy drinking and barbed banter are interrupted when Agnes and Tobias’ best friends Edna and Harry (McBroom and Gammell) come to ask their friends for a startling favor.

The production will feature set design by Gary Wissman and lighting design by Jeremy Pivnick. O’Neil is the company’s artistic director.
