Charles Dance and Janie Dee will star in a revival of William Nicholson’s award-winning play Shadowlands, to be directed by Jeremy Sams, at Wyndham’s Theatre, October 3-December 15. The pair previously starred in a one-night benefit reading of the play in December.

Shadowlands tells the true story of the love affair between British author C.S. Lewis and American divorcée Joy Davidman. The original 1990 British production won the Evening Standard Award for Play of the Year and was nominated for three Olivier Awards. The 1990 Broadway production was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play and earned the Best Actor trophy for star Nigel Hawthorne. The 1993 film version starred Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger.

Dance has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company over his 30-year acting career and starred opposite Jessica Lange in the West End production of Long Day’s Journey Into Night. His numerous film and television credits include Gosford Park, White Mischief, The Jewel in the Crown, and Bleak House.
Dee is a two-time Olivier Award winner whose stage work includes Comic Potential (which she also starred in at Manhattan Theatre Club), Donkey Years, Carousel, My One and Only, Mack & Mabel, and Betrayal.
