The Little Dog Laughed Makes Broadway Bow on November 13; Tom Everett Scott Joins White and Galecki

Douglas Carter Beane’s comedy The Little Dog Laughed will begin its Broadway run at the Cort Theatre on October 26, with an official opening slated for November 13. Scott Ellis, who directed the show earlier this year at Second Stage, will once more helm the production.

Julie White, who earned numerous awards and nominations for her portrayal of Diane, the ruthless Hollywood agent, will reprise her role. So will Johnny Galecki, who plays hustler-with-a-heart-of-gold Alex. Tom Everett Scott will replace Neal Huff as Mitchell, the Hollywood star dealing with his homosexuality. Casting has not been announced for the role of Ellen, Alex’s best friend, which was previously played by Zoe Lister-Jones. As at Second Stage, the creative team will include Allan Moyer (sets), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), and Lewis Flinn (sound).

White’s stage credits include Bad Dates, Dinner With Friends, and The Heidi Chronicles, and she is currently featured on the ABC series Desperate Housewives. Galecki’s stage credits include The Drawer Boy and The Member of the Wedding, and he is best known for his role as David on the sitcom Roseanne. Scott has appeared Off-Broadway in Touch and Beane’s play The Country Club opposite Cynthia Nixon. He currently stars in the TNT series Saved; he and White previously co-starred on the ABC sitcom Grace Under Fire.

Ellis is a two-time Tony Award nominee for his direction of the revivals of Twelve Angry Men and 1776. His many other Broadway credits include The Look of Love, The Boys from Syracuse, and The Man Who Had All the Luck. He is reportedly working on a possible Broadway revival of Inherit the Wind, starring Christopher Plummer.
