Full casting and tour dates have been set for the revival of James Kirkwood’s comedy Legends!, starring former Dynasty castmates Joan Collins and Linda Evans. The production, to be directed by John Bowab, will kick off at Toronto’s Royal Alexander Theater, September 12-October 22, to be followed by stops in nearly 15 cities, including Philadelphia, Hartford, Washington D.C., San Diego, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New Haven. No decision has been made about a Broadway run.

The show centers on a pair of desperate and waning movie stars who are courted by an unscrupulous producer to star together in a Broadway show, even though they hate each other. A national tour of the show in the 1980s starred Mary Martin and Carol Channing, but the tour was aborted when Martin quit midway over the removal of a key speech. Kirkwood, who died in 1989, is best known as the librettist of A Chorus Line, for which he won the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize.

The show will also star Joe Farrell, Tonye Patano, Will Holman, Ethan Matthews, and Chaundra Cameron. The creative team will include costume designer Nolan Miller, who designed the clothes for Dynasty, as well as Jesse Poleshuck (sets), Phil Monat (lighting), and Robin L. McGee (associate costume design).

Collins starred on Broadway in the 1992 revival of Noel Coward’s Private Lives. Her many film and television credits include The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing, The Opposite Sex, Paper Dolls, and a 1972 TV version of The Man Who Came to Dinner as Lorraine Sheldon, opposite Orson Welles and Lee Remick. Evans first came to fame as Audra Barkley in the 1965 TV series The Big Valley. Her other TV work includes Hunter, Bare Essence and Dazzle.
