Full casting has been announced for the Boston sit-down production of the award-winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which will begin performances at Boston’s Wilbur Theatre on September 26.

The show’s cast — many of whom appeared in the show’s soon-to-close San Francisco production — features Aaron J. Albano as Chip Tolentino, Stanley Bahorek as Leaf Coneybear, Jenni Barber as Olive Ostrovsky, Jared Gertner as William Barfee, Sara Inbar as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, James Monroe Inglehart as Mitch Mahoney, Greta Lee as Marcy Park, Daniel Pearce as Douglas Panch, and Betsy Wolfe as Rona Lisa Perretti.

As on Broadway, the production will be directed by James Lapine. Spelling Bee was conceived by Rebecca Feldman. It features a score by William Finn and a book by Rachel Sheinkin, with additional material by Jay Reiss. The show concerns a group of young contestants vying for a local spelling bee championship.

Spelling Bee was first presented at Barrington Stage in July 2004. It was produced Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre in January 2005, and that production transferred to Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre — where it continues to run — on April 15, 2005.
In addition to the San Francisco production, which will close on September 3, there is currently a sit-down production of the show in Chicago. There’s also a production at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre, which features the same cast of the show’s national tour. The tour kicks off in Baltimore on September 19.
