Fantasticks Changes Opening to August 23

The new Off-Broadway production of the Tom Jones-Harvey Schmidt musical The Fantasticks, which is in previews at the new Snapple Theatre Center, will now officially open a week later than planned on Wednesday, August 23.

According to a statement from the producers, the rescheduling was neccessitated by two cast changes. Broadway veteran Burke Moses replaced James Moye as El Gallo last Friday, and Robert R. Oliver temporarily took over the role of Mortimer last month from MacIntrye Dixon, who injured himself during rehearsals. Dixon is expected to return to the production.

The cast of The Fantasticks also includes Thomas Bruce (a.k.a. Tom Jones) as Henry, Leo Burmester as Hucklebee, Santino Fontana as Matt, Sara Jean Ford as Luisa, Douglas Ullman, Jr. as the Mute, and Martin Vidnovic as Bellomy.
