Cumpsty, Greenspan, Morgofen, Parker, et al. Set for CSC’s RIchard II

Full casting has been announced for the Classic Stage Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s Richard II, to run September 6-October 15. The production, which will be directed by Brian Kulick, will open officially on September 17.

Michael Cumpsty will play the title role, alongside Jon DeVries as John of Gaunt, George Morfogen as the Duke of York, Graham Winton as Bolingbroke, Doan Ly as Queen Isabelle, David Greenspan as Bagit/Bishop, Jesse Pennington as Aumerle, Craig Baldwin as Northumberland, Ellen Parker as Duchess of York, and Bernarda De Paula as Bushy.

The show will feature scenic design by Tom Gleeson, lighting design by Brian H. Scott, costume design by Oana Botez-Ban, and sound design by Jorge Muelle.

Cumpsty’s many Broadway credits include The Constant Wife, Democracy, Enchanted April, Copenhagen, and 42nd Street. His previous Shakespearean productions include CSC’s Hamlet and the New York Shakespeare Festival’s Timon of Athens, both directed by Kulick. He also appeared in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s recent production of The Winter’s Tale.
