Richard Chamberlain and Sam Waterston will be among the special guest artists at the Berkshire Theatre Festival’s annual benefit event, to be held this year on Sunday, October 2.

Titled Portrait of a Young Artist, the benefit will be directed by Eric Hill and will honor BTF trustee Aso O. Tavitian. It will feature readings and performances by actors Jeremy Davidson, Maureen O’Flynn, and Martin Rabbett, dancer/choreographer Johannes Weiland, and BTF executive director Kate Maguire in addition to Chamberlain and Waterston.

Chamberlain is most famous for his television performances in Dr. Kildare and The Thorn Birds. He has starred on Broadway in revivals of Blithe Spirit, The Night of the Iguana, The Sound of Music, and My Fair Lady, and he will play Norman Thayer in the national tour of On Golden Pond later this year.

Waterston has been a frequent presence at the Public Theater for four decades, starring there in Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, and many other productions. His Broadway credits include Hay Fever, Benefactors, A Walk in the Woods, and Abe Lincoln in Illinois, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. He has spent the last 10 seasons playing District Attorney Jack McCoy on Law & Order.

Tickets to the benefit are $1,000 each, which includes the performance and dinner to follow at Wheatleigh. Call 413-298-5536, ext. 21 for more information.
