Valerie Harper will star in the national tour of William Gibson’s Golda’s Balcony, which will play 15 cities between October 18, 2005 and May 21, 2006.
The tour will begin at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale (October 18-November 6) and will hit such cities as Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington D.C, Houston and Pittsburgh, before concluding at Baltimore’s New Hippodrome (May 9-21).

A one-woman show about the life of former Israeli prime minister Golda Meir, Golda’s Balcony played for four months at Off-Broadway’s Manhattan Ensemble Theater before moving to the Helen Hayes Theater on Broadway, where it ran nearly 500 performances. The show’s star, Tovah Feldshuh — who won the Lucille Lortel Award, Drama Desk Award and a Tony Award nomination for her performances — is currently performing the show at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Scott Schwartz, who directed all those productions, is also directing the tour.

Harper began her Broadway career in 1959 in the ensemble of Take Me Along.
Her other Broadway credits include Wildcat, Subways Are For Sleeping, and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife. A four-time Emmy Award winner, Harper is best known for playing Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff Rhoda.
