Rent star and former American Idol contestant Frenchie Davis will co-star in the New York Musical Theater Festival production of Monica! The Musical at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Directed by Casey Hushion, the production will feature music by Adam Blau, book and lyrics by Daniel J. Blau and Tracie Potochnik.

Seen in a workshop production earlier this year, Monica! The Musical is a bold satire based on the notorious relationship between President Bill Clinton (to be played by Duke LaFoon) and intern Monica Lewinsky (to be played by Christine DiGiallonardo).

In addition to Davis, who will play Betty Currie, the cast includes Megan Lawrence (Hillary Clinton), Rashad Naylor (Vernon Jordan), Kristie Dale Sanders (Janet Reno), Charlie Pollock (Ken Starr), and Josh Walden (George Stephanopoulos). Lawrence and DiGiallonardo are both in the current Shakespeare in the Park production of Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Monica! The Musical will feature lighting design by Jason Lyons, prop/scenic design by Seth Sklar Heyn, and musical direction by Nadia DiGiallonardo.
