MT&R Announces "Musicals on Television" Screening Schedule

The screening schedule of the Museum of Television & Radio series “Musicals on Television,” to be presented in conjunction with the New York Musical Theatre Festival, has been announced. All screenings will begin at 12:30pm at the New York museum, located at 25 West 52nd Street, from Friday, October 1 through Sunday, October 3. Here is the complete schedule:

October 1
Motorola TV Hour: The Thirteen Clocks (1953), with music and lyrics by Mark Bucci, based on the fairy tale by James Thurber and adapted by Fred Sadoff; directed by Donald Richardson and starring John Raitt, Roberta Peters, Cedric Hardwicke, Basil Rathbone, and Russell Nype.

Producers Showcase: Bloomer Girl (1956), with music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Yarburg, book by Fred Saidy and Sig Herzig, adapted for television by Leslie Stevens; directed by Alex Segal, and starring Barbara Cook, Keith Andes, Carmen Mathews, and Paul Ford.

October 2
DuPont Show of the Month: Aladdin (1958), with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, book by S. J. Perelman; directed by Ralph Nelson and starring Sal Mineo, Cyril Ritchard, Anna Maria Alberghetti, Basil Rathbone, Una Merkel, Akim Tamiroff, and Geoffrey Holder.

ABC Stage 67: Evening Primrose (1966), with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Goldman, based on a story by John Collier. Directed by Paul Bogart and starring Anthony Perkins, Charmian Carr, Dorothy Stickney, and Larry Gates.

October 3
That’s Life (1968), a short-lived TV series starring Robert Morse and E.J. Peaker, with guest stars Liza Minnelli and Paul Lynde.

Cop Rock (1990), the premiere episode of the TV series featuring songs by Randy Newman and produced by Steven Bochco, starring Barbara Bosson, Ronny Cox, Larry Joshua, Peter Onorati, Anne Bobby, James McDaniel, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.
