2002-2003 Best Plays Choices for 2002-2003 Announced

The 10 plays that have been selected for the 2002-2003 Best Plays yearbook have been announced. As is traditional, each of the plays will be celebrated with an essay in the annual volume, edited by Jeffrey Eric Jenkins.

The plays were chosen by Jenkins with the help of the Best Plays editorial board; eligible for consideration were new plays that opened on Broadway, Off-Broadway, or Off-Off-Broadway between June 1, 2002 and May 31, 2003. The 84th edition of the yearbook will also honor three regional plays cited in the American Theatre Critics/Steinberg New Play Awards and Citations competition and will provide extensive information about the year in U.S. theater.

The plays selected are listed below, each followed by the name of the Best Plays contributor who will write an essay about the play.

  • Dublin Carol, by Conor McPherson (Charles Isherwood)
  • I Am My Own Wife, by Doug Wright (Julius Novick)
