Sixty designers have been nominated this year by the Hewes Design Awards Committee for outstanding work in costumes, lighting, scenic design, and specialized effects; 46 productions, both on and off Broadway, are represented among the nominations.

Now in their 38th year and formerly known as the Maharams, the Hewes Awards were renamed for their co-founder, Henry Hewes, in 1999. Winners of the Hewes Awards receive honoraria and citations, which will be presented at a luncheon on September 13 at Sardi’s.
