The Drama Book Shop, a longtime mecca for theater professionals and enthusiasts, kicks off a new reading series on September 9 at 6pm. Called “Playwrights & Performers,” the series will give theater pros the opportunity to share their work with the public. For the inaugural reading, playwright Donald Margulies (Dinner with Friends) will present excerpts from Luna Park: Short Plays and Monologues; he will be aided by members of Back House Productions, the Drama Book Shop’s resident theater company. A question and answer session will follow.

On October 9 at 5pm, Broadway legend Carol Channing will read from her new autobiography Just Lucky I Guess: A Memoir of Sorts, followed by a book signing. Both of these events are free and open to the public, but seating is limited so reservations are recommended. To secure yourself a spot, call 212-944-0595.

Recently relocated to 250 W. 40th Street, The Drama Book Shop now boasts its own performance space, the Arthur Seelen Theatre, which is to be used for in-house events and as a rental space. For further info on upcoming events at the book shop, visit their web site at www.dramabookshop.com.
