St. Ann's Warehouse Announces 2014-15 Season

Renovations are currently underway at the theater company’s future permanent home in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

St. Ann's Warehouse has announced the production lineup for its final season before taking up permanent residence at the site of the Tobacco Warehouse on the waterfront in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The season kicks off with Sarah Kane's 4:48 Psychosis, adapted and directed by Grzegorz Jarzyna. The production will feature a performance by Polish actress Magdalena Cielecka. The TR Warszawa production will run from October 16-26.

Cabaret icons The Tiger Lillies will then offer a "Halloween performance of deranged hits," Songs of Horror and Havoc, running from October 30-November 1.

Kneehigh's New York premiere of Tristan & Yseult, adapted and directed by Emma Rice, will be next, with performances running from November 13-December 7. The new take on the epic tale is is written by Carl Grose and Anna Maria Murphy.

Carmina Slovenica, a Slovenian "vocal theatre" company, will then present Toxic Psalms as part of the Prototype Festival. The North American premiere will be performed by the company's ensemble of 34 young women, invoking Africa, the Middle East, Pussy Riot, weapons, extinctions, contaminations and abuses of religions. Directed by Karmina Šilec, performances will run from January 8-11, 2015.

The Wooster Group's Cry, Trojans!, which originated as a coproduction with the Royal Shakespeare Company of Troilus and Cressida, will follow. In this revamped production, the Trojans are reimagined as a fictional tribe of early Americans struggling to assert its dignity as doom closes in. The production will be directed by Elizabeth LeCompte, featuring Jim Fletcher, Ari Fliakos, Koosil-ja, Greg Mehrten, Suzzy Roche, Scott Shepherd, Casey Spooner, and Kate Valk. Set elements, props, and costumes are designed by Folkert de Jong, with sound and score by Bruce Odland and lighting by Jennifer Tipton. Performances will run from March 24-April 19, 2015.

Closing out the season will be The Wooster Group's Early Shaker Spirituals, which channels the 1976 LP of the same name recorded by the Sisters of the Shaker Community in Sabbathday Lake, Maine. Directed by Kate Valk, the cast features Cynthia Hedstrom, Elizabeth LeCompte, Frances McDormand, Bebe Miller, Suzzy Roche and Max Bernstein, Matthew Brown, Modesto Jimenez, Bobby McElver, Jamie Poskin and Andrew Schneider. The production includes lighting design by Jennifer Tipton, set design by Elizabeth LeCompte and Jim Clayburgh, and costumes by Enver Chakartash.
