Ruthless! The Musical will return to New York City for nine performances to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The award-winning musical premiered off-Broadway in 1992 at the Players Theatre, starring future Broadway actress Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde) in the central role of Tina Denmark. Natalie Portman and Britney Spears understudied the role.

The show famously spoofs Broadway musicals such as Gypsy and Mame, as well as classic films including The Bad Seed and All About Eve. The show features a book and lyrics by Joel Paley and music by Marvin Laird. For this production, Laird will take on the role of Sylvia St. Croix, an overbearing agent who encourages the maniacal character of Tina to pursue stardom. Paley, who will direct the production, will also perform in it, alongside guest star Rita McKenzie from the original Los Angeles company as Lita Encore.

Performances will run from September 5-22 at Stage 72 at the Triad.
