Two-time Tony Award winner and Broadway legend Chita Rivera will return to Birdland for seven shows from October 7-11.

Rivera will pay homage to her extensive Broadway career, performing some of her favorite songs with a special tribute to John Kander and Fred Ebb, the songwriting team behind some of her most notable stage credits including Chicago, The Rink, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. She will be accompanied by her longtime music director Michael Croiter, associate music director/pianist Michael Patrick Walker, and Jim Donica on bass.

With nearly six decades of Broadway experience, 81-year-old Rivera is the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom as well as the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor (the first Hispanic woman ever chosen to receive this award). She has earned seven Tony nominations in addition to her two wins and is best known for her roles in the original Broadway productions of West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, The Rink, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and The Dancer’s Life, as well as her roles in the revival productions of Nine and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Rivera is currently re-creating her starring role in Kander & Ebb's The Visit at Williamstown Theatre Festival, running from July 31-August 17.
