Venice Film Festival to Include Works Featuring James Franco, Robert Redford, Susan Sarandon, Liev Schreiber

The line-up for the 69th Venice Film Festival, to run August 29-September 8, has been announced, with numerous entries featuring stage veterans and other notable actors.

As previously reported, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, directed by Mira Nair, will open the festival. It features Tony Award winner Liev Schreiber, Broadway and screen star Kiefer Sutherland, along with Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Martin Donovan, Om Puri and Shabana Azmi.

Among the competing films are At Any Price, directed by Ramin Bahrani, starring Zac Efron, Dennis Quaid, Kim Dickens, and Heather Graham; Passion, directed by Brian De Palma, featuring Rachel McAdams, Noomi Rapace, Paul Anderson, and Karoline Herfurth; Spring Breakers, directed by Harmony Korine, and including James Franco, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Heather Morris; and To The Wonder, directed by Terrence Malick, featuring Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Rachel Weisz, Javier Bardem, and Olga Kurylenko.

Among the out of competition selections are L’Homme Qui Rit, directed by Jean-Pierre Ameris, starring Gérard Depardieu, Marc-André Grondin, Christa Theret, and Emmanuelle Seigner; Love Is All You Need, directed by Susanne Bier, and featuring
Pierce Brosnan, Trine Dyrholm, Sebastian Jessen, and Molly Blixt Egelind; Cherchez Hortense, directed by Pascal Bonitzer, starring Jean-Pierre Bacri, Isabelle Carré, and Kristin Scott Thomas; Sur Un Fil…, directed by Simon Brook, featuring Peter Brook, Yoshi Oida, Shantala Shivalingappa, and Marcello Magni; The Company You Keep, directed by Robert Redford, and featuring Redford, Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Richard Jenkins, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, and Nick Nolte; Disconnect, directed by Henry-Alex Rubin and featuring Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Nyqvist, Jason Bateman, and Andrea Riseborough; The Iceman, directed by Ariel Vromen, and featuring Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, Chris Evans, Ray Liotta, and James Franco; and the documentaries Enzo Avitable Music Life, directed by Jonathan Demme and Bad 25, directed by Spike Lee.
