Tony Award Winner Martin Pakledinaz Has Died

Tony Award-winning costume designer Martin Pakledinaz has died of cancer at age 58.


Pakledinaz is currently represented on Broadway by Nice Work If You Can Get It and Anything Goes, both of which earned him Tony Award nominations, and the national tour of The Normal Heart.


He received a total of 10 Tony nominations, and won for Thoroughly Modern Millie and Kiss Me Kate.


In a career that spanned more than 30 years, he designed dozens of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, regional theater productions, and dance and opera productions.

Among his many recent credits were the Roundabout Theatre’s revival of Man and Boy, Manhattan Theater Company’s Master Class, City Center Encores! Bells Are Ringing and Arena Stage’s Oklahoma!.


Pakledinaz also taught on the graduate level at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts


He is survived by six brothers and one sister, nine nieces and nephews, and his godson, Robert Gabriel Hill-Guarino.


Private funeral services will be held in Michigan.A memorial service will be held later this year.
