Taffety Punk Theatre Company to Present Hamlet, the Bad-ass Quarto
Taffety Punk Theatre Company will present the next edition of Bootleg Shakespeare, featuring Hamlet, the Bad-ass Quarto, on Monday, August 6 at the Folger Shakespeare Theatre. Joel David Santner directs.
To perform Bootleg Shakespeare, the actors memorize their lines in advance and engage in a single rehearsal on the morning of the show where the entire play is staged, fights and all. The “Bad Quarto” of Hamlet, the first printing of the play featuring numerous differences from any other edition, has mystified scholars for generations.
The cast of the production will include artistic director Marcus Kyd, as well as Tonya Beckman, Daniel Flint, Kimberly Gilbert, and Esther Williamson.
