The cast features Reed Birney in the title role, along with Michael Shannon (Astrov), Merritt Wever (Sonia), Maria Dizzia (Yelena), Peter Friedman (Serebryakov), Georgia Engel (Marina), and Matthew Maher, and Paul Thureen.

The design team includes Andrew Lieberman (set design), Baker (costume design), Mark Barton (lighting design), and Matt Tierney (sound design).
