The Little Dog Laughed, Little Shop of Horrors and More Part of Gallery Players’ 2011-2012 Season

The Gallery Players has announced its 2011-2012 season, which will open with Douglas Carter Beane’s satiric look at show business and its treatment of gay celebrities, The Little Dog Laughed, to run September 10-25.

Also on the company’s schedule is Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s B-movie inspired musical, Little Shop of Horrors (October 22 – November 13), Craig Lucas’ absurdist take on the life of a woman whose marriage is unraveling, Reckless (December 3-18), Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Terrence McNally’s portrait of an Irish man’s struggles with himself and his sexuality, A Man of No Importance (January 28 – February 19), Lorraine Hansberry’s groundbreaking A Raisin in the Sun (March 17 – April 1), and Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden and Adolph Green’s musical about two sisters’ lives in 1950s Manhattan, Wonderful Town (April 28 – May 20).

In addition, the Gallery Players’ season will include its annual showcase of new works by new and emerging playwrights, The Black The Black Box New Play Festival, to run May 31 – June 24.
